Fat Dissolving

How do they work?

Fat dissolving injections, also known as lipolytic injections  are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure designed to reduce localised areas of fat. These injections typically contain a substance called deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

Here's how fat dissolving injections typically work:

1. Consultation: Before undergoing fat dissolving injections, individuals need to have a consultation,  during this consultation your medical history will be taken, discussing expectations, and determine whether they are a suitable candidate for the procedure.

2. Preparation: If you are deemed suitable for the procedure, the treatment area is cleaned and marked to identify the specific areas where the injections will be administered.

3. Injection: A fine needle or a cannula is used to inject the fat-dissolving solution directly into the targeted area. The solution contains deoxycholic acid, which works by breaking down the membranes of fat cells. Once these fat cells are disrupted, they release their contents, which are then gradually eliminated by the body's natural metabolic processes.

4. Multiple Sessions: Fat dissolving injections typically require multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart to achieve optimal results. The exact number of sessions needed varies depending on factors such as your individual's anatomy, the amount of fat being treated, and the desired outcome.

5. Recovery: After the injection, you may experience some swelling, redness, and mild discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are usually temporary and subside within a few days to a week. It is important to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided to minimise discomfort and ensure proper healing.

6. Results: Over the following weeks and months, you will notice a gradual reduction in the fat in the treated area as the body metabolises and eliminates the destroyed fat cells. The final results of fat-dissolving injections are typically visible within a few months after the completion of the treatment series. It's important to note that fat-dissolving injections are intended for localised fat reduction and are not a substitute for weight loss or a healthy lifestyle.
